Spring cleaning. I find myself without even realizing the connection of the season purging at the moment and scrutinizing each room to determine how it can be changed. And I realized this afternoon that this angst for change is all part of the routines of spring time. The feelings of being unsettled in our own homes. And we as home owners all feel the need to declutter, purge and freshen our home. Its instinctual. But most of us aren’t too certain where to start or which rooms take precedence.
What we recommend here at D3 Design is adding a new paint colour to a prominent living space in a home. And spring time is a perfect time to do this. And our obsession and recommendation this season is to do white walls. Either in a living room, hall space or a kitchen area. And if budget allows for one room this season to be converted then ensure to choose a space that has high traffic.
White colour freshens a home and instantly gives new life to a room. It also creates that feel of clean and openness. For smaller rooms the white walls allow the room to take on a larger scale of its own. As well it provides the accent pieces to shine and add some individualistic properties to a room.
Another reason why we love white on walls is its modern and simplistic mood that envelopes from the openness and sharp lines. And it works wonders in open-concept homes.
Our second advice while spring cleaning is adding beautiful art work to that white room. White walls allow for no competition between colours and provides the art work to take front stage and become a discussion piece. Art work on white walls also creates an instant prominent colour focus for the room which allow home owners an easier task of pulling colours from the art and spreading those colours throughout the living space.
Once the room is painted and art work is chosen for the room ensure to declutter the space. Storage cabinets hung on walls is a great space saver in hall ways and living rooms. As well, unique basket ideas is a must to create some texture to the room. And don’t forget to add some flowers from the garden into the home. Fresh blooms into our homes during the spring season is a must.
For us here at D3 Design, spring cleaning is all about newness and freshness in a home. As important as the traditional routines of cleaning, dusting, purging and organization is. White walls, art work and storage solutions are a must.
Make the most of the current spring season and achieve the newness and freshness that spring has to offer with a little help from the team at D3 Design.
